In February of this year, Valery Yunayev was found guilty of Part 1 of Article 104 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (“Causing death through negligence”) and sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison. On August 8, the court of first instance applied an amnesty to him, exempting him from further serving his sentence. On September 16, the appeal against this decision was considered in the regional court.
